If there's a scientific explanation

for moonlight shining on water

don't tell me what it is.

Don't spoil the magic

of this radiant silver path

leading to me and me alone.

Where will it take me

if I dare commit to

its glistening mystery?

Someday I'll surrender

but not yet not yet...

just know that when

I've traveled on

and you search for

some sign of me

look to that trail

of diamonds flung

across rippling sea

and know that

at last I've taken it

and gone home—

gone gently home.
