Conversations When you have no one to talk to     except yourself     you’d better be good company. Be respectful and kind.     Overlook disappointments.     Offer understanding.     Laugh often.     Withhold judgement. Say “It’s gonna be okay.”     “I know you can handle this.”     “Wow. You’re incredible.” Be lavish with praise.     Recall your strengths—     Forgive your weaknesses. How else would you      treat a lifelong companion—     an intimate confidante,     the one who will always be there     through sun and storm? The conversations that matter most     are those we have with ourselves.    They can make or break us. ...

Conscious Gardening

Conscious Gardening My happiness depends on the thoughts I choose to think— or not think. Like weeds in my garden, thorny thoughts pop up  from time to time. Some have deep roots, resist being dug up and spread stealthy vines. I must be vigilant and protect my precious flowers my delicate sprouts. You see, I prefer plants that nourish body and soul— bringing peace and contentment. When invaders attack (and attack they will), I know I must root them out and cultivate better thoughts. Where is the beauty in this day? Can I send compassion to someone sunk in darkness? Can I banish fear or anger with heartfelt gratitude? Can I smile even through my tears?
